If i were to connect my book with a conflict that were going on today, I would connect it to the Arab-Israeli conflict, in particular, the Arab 1 Man, 29 Killed Massacre. The audience that is intended to read this is America. The author intended for this article to be read and to have Americans change their minds about the conflict. The author states that ONE man killed 29 people and injuring many more before being overpowered and being killed himself. His evidence is that people were warranting for the arrest of those who killed him and some praised him for his actions.
Similarly, in the book, Vahan is being taken to a death camp and they make several stops on the way. The men taking them to that place (the turkish) are laughing at the expense of the Armenians (Vahan's people). They get praised for taking the Armenians to the camp and kill them in any way possible. The Armenians in the situation do not get any compensation for being held hostage. Similarly, the Arabs did not get compensated for being shot at.

Letter to character in book
Dear Mrs. Altoonian,
You should not have sent Vahan to "live" with Selim Bey. The reason why I say this is because instead of taking care of Vahan, Vahan takes care of his horses. Also, he isn't treated with respect because Selim Bey is a Turk!! Vahan doesn't like the fact that he has to clean up after his horses do their business. Selim Bey also "befriended" Vahan, Vahan believes, but behind his back, he killed the rest of the Armenians in the city. He also brought a 9-10 year old girl for the soldiers to have fun with because he didnt care. My point is is that Vahan doesnt like the situation he is in, so you should figure out a way to get him back.
Sincerely,
Joseph Lamb

Genocide prevalent in the book Forgoten fire
“At that moment, a woman carrying a cloth sack stepped out of the bakery. Without allowing myself a second to reflect on what I was about to do, I started toward her, bowing my head a little so that she could not see my face; For several weeks, I jostled and pleaded for food, ran from those who would not give to those who might” (Adam Bagdasarian, 2000, pg. 105) This is an example of dehumanization because the Turks put Vahan in such a bad situation that he became a beggar, the lowest of the low in his country.
“When the sun barely touched the tops of the trees, we were led off the road to a flat place by the River Tigris. It was the same river Sisak and Oskina and I had swum in the year before, and it was congested with thousands of corpses.”(Adam Bagdasarian, 2000, pg. 47) This is an example of extermination because the corpses were of other Armenians that were killed by gendarmes and Turkish soldiers.

Orginization to distribute proceeds to
Project Sentinel would be the best recipient for our money as a student body because it could help potentially stop what is happening in Sudan right now and would help support the idea for putting the project on a global scale and stopping genocide. The organization has the potential to have enough authority to stop the genocide right now. . The organization gains satellite images of what happens in Sudan and reports on the atrocities. They also are only made up of movie actors and other famous people that have a reputation of giving to the needy and at least trying to help when the current government of that time does absolutely nothing. The reason why this is a good agency is because they have the potential to do greater things and help stop genocide, and not watch by the sideline like the rest of the world does, but they don’t have enough money to do it, which is why we should send money to support them. The organization is made up of mostly well-known people. If a certain organization has well-known people supporting the organization, more people would want to support it as well because there aren’t many total strangers. It also has people that care about the well-being of other countries. This also makes it a good organization because the people would rather give donations to well-known people instead of total strangers who only help those that are hurt and not those that will be hurt. In conclusion, I believe that Project Sentinel is the best organization to receive proceeds.
